Mel’s Diner targets talented restaurant-industry professionals with new GM incentives package
Bonita Springs, Fla. – Mel’s Diner, affectionately known as “Southwest Florida’s kitchen,” has always prided itself on the family friendly service, high value and quality, made-from-scratch comfort foods in each of its locations; but just as important are its seasoned staff, which consists of many top restaurant-industry professionals who, ironically enough, have left jobs at larger organizations in order to take part in the Mel’s more old-fashioned, close-knit working environment.
Now Mel’s is looking to add a larger team of talented people to its roster – a step needed to accommodate the company’s rapid growth. Currently, Mel’s Diner owns and operates 10 stores in the southwest Florida area. It plans to add four more stores by 2007 and hopes to continue those expansion efforts in coming years.
“Our manager incentive packages will simultaneously bring these candidates back in time and move them ahead into the future,” said Chris Karakosta, president and CEO of Mel’s Diner. “Picture a working environment with family-style values, where the customers know your name, the meatloaf is just like mom’s and the mashed potatoes never end. Imagine a place where all this exists and you’re still surrounded by cutting-edge technologies, upgraded inventory control systems, industry-leading business practices and top-tier compensation and benefits.”
According to Mel’s Diner representatives, these new GMs can expect to perform the following general duties:
- Oversee the operations of restaurants within assigned territories
- Increase overall business of those locations
- Guarantee the quality control of those stores (including keeping customers happy)
- Ensure employee development and rewards
To attracted qualified candidates, Mel’s is offering a lucrative GM package, which includes the following:
- An annual salary of $50,000 to $65,000 or more
- A benefits package consisting of flexible management schedules, insurance benefits, continuing education, executive involvement and financial planning
- In-depth training, development and orientation
- A rewards program featuring frequent reviews and feedback sessions, as well as special incentives to those meeting or exceeding company standards (such as monetary compensation, awards banquets, weekend retreats and more)
“We're proud to do things differently at Mel's and strive to positively impact the lives of everyone involved,” said Karakosta. “We believe that if you treat people ‘just right,’ success is sure to follow. It's a culture of respect and camaraderie that breeds enthusiasm, starting with entertaining each customer like a guest in our home.”
“Mel’s is proud to be a Florida icon. From traditional diner classics, to our new gourmet offerings, we blend the best of the old and new. Today, we invite you to join our family, where our employees are the key ingredient.”
